We are seeking to fill a position for a Bookkeeper/Accounting Assistant. The qualified applicant will be highly organized, detail orientated and able to balance multiple assignments effectively. We’re looking for someone who has excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, can operate effectively in a team atmosphere, be self-directed and meet multiple deadlines, while enhancing the organizational reputation of the Migis Hotel Group and our Central Office.

Responsible for providing accounting support to the Controller, COO and property Managers as needed, maintaining thorough and accurate records for assigned properties, assisting in ensuring acceptable levels of financial controls and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and collaborating on team projects.
SUMMARY OF BOOKKEEPING/ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain organization of all vital records for assigned properties.
Receive and review all invoices for proper GL coding and work with property managers to assist and advise them in their coding.
Reconcile monthly revenue and ensure accuracy with reporting from properties.
Prepare monthly Sales Tax Reports for filing and timely payment.
Ensure that all Bank accounts are reconciled in a timely basis.
Maintain accuracy of Balance Sheet accounts by reconciling reporting of Ledger Balances from properties, entering journal entries as needed, recording monthly depreciation or other inter-company expenses.
Review and analyze detailed Profit and Loss statements for accuracy, proper coding and allocation of COG’s, expenses, etc. – ensuring necessary expense detail is recorded as well.
Provide accurate and timely reporting to Managers, Owners, Partners – such as Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly reporting (Profit & Loss statements, Budget Performance, Balance Sheets, Key Performance Indicators, etc.), cash flow analysis or forecasting, transaction detail, or other property specific information needed.
Responsible for Bi-weekly bill payments – working with Office Assistant/AP Clerk to ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors, as well as Controller to manage cash needs for bill pay.
Assist Controller and COO to prepare and enter Budgets into QB.
Assist Controller, COO and Management in consolidation of financial information, analysis, audit preparation and reporting requirements for all property or Central Office needs.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bookkeeping experience or comparable degree/certification – familiarity with accounting concepts.
Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Work at a fast pace, have a positive can-do attitude, and be very dependable.
Strong computer and data entry skills - including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), QuickBooks and or other accounting software.
Highly organized and manages time efficiently with competing demands and interruptions, in order to meet deadlines.
Demonstrates ability to problem solve, research and reconcile discrepancies in order to deliver thorough and accurate information.
Willingness to work in a team or alone – taking ownership of role and accomplishments while being able to take direction as well as being open to others’ ideas, sensitive to other’s needs and willing to take on new and different things.
Must handle sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
Adaptable to changes in the work environment, delays or unexpected events.
Occasional bending, balancing, stooping, reaching, pushing, lifting. Regular use of computer – sitting and looking at a computer screen for long periods of time, and frequent manual dexterity and repetitive motions - using mouse and keyboards.
Must be legally able to work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Ability to communicate in English, both orally and written.
