Day Camp Instructors – Chipmunks Half-Day Program (25hrs/week)

Adventure Camp at Redbrook, a Mass Audubon camp run in partnership with the Old Colony YMCA and the Redbrook Community, is looking for some outstanding, energetic and enthusiastic day camp instructors for our summer camp season. Are you looking for a stimulating and rewarding experience where you spend time outdoors with children, connecting them to nature, adventure and fun? Then this may be the job for you! You’ll enjoy working on the extensive outdoor campus of pine barrens, ponds and cranberry bogs that is part of the Redbrook community and will work with groups of campers ranging from ages 4-10 years of age.

Our camp counselors serve as role models to our campers and commit to the highest possible standards. Join our staff for the opportunity to work with some great campers and colleagues. Counselors share in all of the camp responsibilities including the supervision of camper health and safety, facilitation of nature-based activities and communication with staff and parents. Camp staff work cooperatively to develop age-appropriate lessons, games and crafts.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age;
Have an interest and general knowledge of natural history and/or education and at least two years of experience working with and enjoy being with children;
Preferred applicants have a degree in early childhood education, psychology and/or education
Have the ability to lead groups over semi-rough terrain;
Must be able to work both cooperatively and independently;
Current certification in Red Cross Community CPR and First Aid or equivalent current certification is required (training opportunities provided);
Must pass a background records check (CORI and SORI).

Compensation and Benefits:
Rate of pay: $12.00-$13.00/hr based on experience. No housing available. Eight days of paid training provided at minimum wage.

Additional Comments:
Schedule: Training dates are July 1st -3rd (24 hours) and July 8th – 12th (40 hours).

Camp runs for four weeks, Monday – Friday from July 15th – August 9th from 9am-12pm. Position works from 8am-1pm. If a camp week does not run, work is cancelled for that week without pay.
