Enters data into the Hospital Information System daily, using computer applications. Performs general office detail work. Produces, files and distributes reports to designated areas. Performs a variety of routine clerical tasks of limited complexity under general supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accurately and thoroughly enters all relevant information into PC systems, optimizing all available computer software. Performs routine medical office typing, including envelopes, memos, physician notes and physician orders. Prepares and maintains general office files.
Properly gathers, reviews, duplicates and distributes patient medical information. Prepares and maintains patient files.
Prints, collates and distributes reports to designated areas.
Maintains and updates routine reports, forms and log sheets.
Demonstrates excellent phone skills in all instances and performs effective patient confirmation calls. Responsibly communicates information concerning patient exams to Radiologists and others as necessary.
Coordinates patient flow with support area staff.
Inventories and orders office supplies following established departmental standards.
Maintains a suitable working rapport with co-workers and hospital personnel.
Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Demonstrates the components of the I CARE values statement.
Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Consistently applies established radiation protection guidelines in accordance with prescribed regulations and standards under the guidance of area staff. Monitors area activities for safety compliance. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
Performs other duties as requested.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

High School diploma or GED equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of one year clerical experience.

Personal computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications

Minimum typing skill of 40 wpm and 10-key numerical data entry by touch.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Should demonstrate a high level of maturity with demonstrated self-confidence and ability to make decisions.
Knowledge of data processing and standard office machines.
Minimum typing skill of 30wpm.
Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Hospital Setting

Overtime and flexibility as needed.
