Cognizant Technology Solutions is seek a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to work for one or more clients remotely.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of the clinical documentation in the medical records to reflect the severity of illness, clinical treatment, decisions, and diagnoses of patients. The work involves concurrent medical record review. This review includes new admissions to the facility, as well as re-reviews every two to three days until the patients are discharged. The CDI Specialist communicates with clinicians and physicians to ensure timely and accurate documentation and provides training and education as needed. The CDI Specialist will also perform focused reviews at the discretion of the VP of Health Information Management/Clinical Documentation Improvement.

WORK HOURS:
Langley Provider Group a division of ROI (Receivables Outsourcing, Inc.) is an organization that operates 5 days per week, 8 to 12 hours per day. The employee’s work schedule should reflect the working agreement made between the employee and the department director/manager at the time of employment. However, management retains the right to assign/reassign duties and shifts of employees in accordance with the needs and requirements of Langley Provider Group. Work schedule may involve weekends, holidays, overtime, and low census periods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work is performed with minimal supervision. Progress is reviewed at critical points.
Must maintain confidential information regarding patients and staff.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to meet individual needs based on physical, psycho-social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the clients served in the assigned area.
Must be able to give presentation to medical staff, physicians, and hospital personnel.
Must maintain a productivity rate of 95% or greater for concurrent reviews of new admissions to the hospital.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
RN, CCDS/CDIP certification or within 3 months of obtaining certification.
A minimum of five to ten years’ experience in nursing or other clinical area, coding, process improvement, or utilization review/case management in an acute care facility
Coding skills with experience in ICD-10-CM/PCS and working knowledge of the AHA Coding Clinic
Effective interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with all levels of hospital personnel. Organization and prioritization skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills imperative. Analytical skills.
Proficient computer skills.

Must obtain Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification within two years of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift 20 pounds.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to focus/read a computer screen for prolonged periods. Work in an office setting and hospital setting. Basic sensory skills: visual, auditory and speech acuity.
Some travel required.
OSHA Exposure Category III – no risk of exposure to blood or body fluids.
