The Director of Print & Marketing Services (P&MS) Business Development & Insights is a key role within the P&MS business, an exciting strategic growth area for Staples Retail and Online. This individual, along with two senior managers, will lead strategic growth plans to expand this business exponentially through innovation and new business opportunities. This work will include such opportunities as acquisition/partnerships, new platforms, new products & services, and new business or service models. This team will need to understand Staples existing products and operations, the print and marketing services market, customers’ needs and competitors’ landscape.
The Director, P&MS Business Development & Insights will partner directly with and be supported by a core team of internal P&MS team members and cross-functional partners to generate ideas and build a pipeline of opportunities to further penetrate the Print market and increase revenue and profit. Under the Director’s leadership, this team will own the end to end new business development process, including:
Developing and implementing overall strategy for new business development within P&MS
Identifying and assessing business growth opportunities; developing and garnering support to go to market based on business plans
Designing, implementing, and measuring test plans for new ideas
Iterating, assessing, and building recommendations for expansion or sunset; designing rollout plans for winning concepts
Partnering with home office and store teams to implement successful rollouts
This Director position will also be responsible for P&MS market and customer insights and research, translating insights into actionable concepts and plans. To be successful, this individual will need to partner effectively with Marketing Insights, Customer Insights, Customer Satisfaction, and vendors.
Bachelor’s Degree required - MBA strongly preferred
Minimum 10 years of related experience
5+ years of experience developing and leading the strategy and execution of business initiatives
Demonstrated track record of business development, innovation, and increasing revenue to meet established goals
Proven leadership skills
Strategic and creative thinker with excellent project management skills
Experience driving strategic initiatives in a fact-based, process-centric organization
Collaborative approach with ability to form strong cross-functional partnerships
Demonstrated organizational influence
Team player who also possesses the independence of thought and opinion to provide candor and honesty when making key recommendations and decisions
