Job Summary
Serve as nutritional resource providing personalized counseling for students, coaches, athletic trainers, support staff and food service personnel. Assist with assessing dietary practices, body composition assessments and energy balance related to optimal nutrition for exercise training, competition, and recovery from physical/tactical training. Play a crucial part in upholding rigorous nutritional standards. Collaborate closely with the Director of Culinary Operations to design menus that cater to various dietary requirements.
Primary Duties

- Contribute to the development of cycle menus for balanced proper nutritional value. Conduct nutritional analysis for cycle menu and offsite menus ensuring all nutritional signage is complete before each menu rollout.
- Address dietary restrictions, allergies, and religious requirements for students/customers.
- Manage recipes and assist with recipe management.
- Communicate with staff about nutrition matters and develop nutritional awareness programs.
- Assist with developing and delivering nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on various topics related to nutrition for performance.
Additional Responsibilities
- Follow program policies and procedures to implement nutritional components of the program.
- Provide input for menu design, recipes and product testing.
- Stand by the badge reader to provide information and answer questions about the daily menu, ensuring students have sufficient information to make informed food choices.
- Perform routine line checks to verify adherence to nutritional guidelines and standards. This ensures that all food served meets the necessary nutritional requirements and criteria.
- Recommend appropriate pre-exercise, during, and post-exercise fluids and snacks for individual and group training, tests, and competitions.
- Assist with providing personalized meal and snack plans to promote achieving short- and long-term goals for operational readiness and good health.
- Create marketing and nutrition awareness programs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations related to nutrition and health to ensure ongoing updates/modifications as necessary
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
- Must be able to pass and maintain a Tier 5 FBI Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
- Must be a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Two years of experience as a dietitian is required, preferably in a food service setting, with a focus on sports nutrition and tactical athletic performance recovery.
- Knowledge of nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, to evaluate for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a good motor vehicle record (MV) required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of nutrition and food, particularly in relation to health and disease.
- Knowledge of current developments in public health nutrition and their application in this program.
- Ability to effectively use educational materials for the nutrition education of individuals or groups.
- Ability to gather, interpret, evaluate, and use statistical data.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with program team, as well as customers and contractors.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and environment.
