We are currently seeking a Senior Materials Manager for our Springfield Assembly Plant. This role will lead all Materials Management functions for the assembly plant to include: a team of 20 supervisor/managers and their teams of represented hourly staff. These teams work across multiple shifts, ensuring materials are where they need to be, when they need to be there, on the line. This role will capitalize on LEAN initiatives, JIT deliverables and an on-going focus on reducing process waste.

In addition to the responsibilities above this person will also manage our warehousing and transportation vendors to ensure they are meeting the needs of our plant per our agreements. This role will also work closely with all engineering change overs, once again to ensure the proper parts are where they need to be. This role will also work closely with manufacturing, quality and corporate offices.

Position Purpose and Requirements
This role will support one or more of the following functions: material and services sourcing, procurement, supplier management, production planning, transportation, inventory control, distribution, and process reengineering.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of materials management or supply chain experience
At least 4 years of management experience

Master’s degree and at least 8 years of materials management or supply chain experience
At least 4 years of management experience

At least 12 years of materials management or supply chain experience
At least 4 years of management experience

Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills:
Previous automotive materials supply chain and operational experience, heavy truck experience preferred
Experience in lean manufacturing with a focus on continuous improvement
Strengths in process focus, less expediting (fire-fighting)
Previous experience managing multiple shifts
Good delegation skills
Excellent customer focus (internal, external, colleagues, direct reports etc.)
Must be flexible, able to adapt to constantly changing circumstances
Experience working with union operations
Must be able to relocate to Springfield, OHarea

Must have upward management and communication skills

Experience with WMS (warehouse management systems)

Knowledge and experience with MRP, EDI, production systems, material planning, purchasing, material handling, inventory, audit etc.
