As the facility Human Resources Director you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and administration of the Human Resource function for our skilled nursing center; including, but not limited to, Human Resource policies, programs and practices.

Also responsible for ensuring compliance with the following functional areas: recruitment, employee relations, regulatory, payroll, training, employment, and employee welfare programs.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Manages various human resources functions and procedures for facility to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations
  • Plans, organizes, and manages all activities of the department
  • Follows established guidelines and leads staffing practices and procedures, and writes and places advertisements, necessary to recruit and retain an effective workforce that includes professionals, exempt and nonexempt personnel
  • Oversees facility timekeeping and payroll functions to ensure accuracy and thoroughness; regularly monitors payroll expenses and overtime usage and reports on same to Nursing Home Administrator and Corporate HR Director
  • Proactively identifies HR issues and offers solutions and/or involves the appropriate resources to ensure a fair, positive and timely resolution
  • Protect interests of employees and the company in accordance with HR policies and governmental laws and regulations
  • Ensures that employee files are compliant with company policy, State and Federal regulations (for example, I-9, W4, service letters, OIG, abuse registry checks, licensure/certification, drug testing, and background investigations); utilizes the BCC website for skilled care facilities compliance
  • Monitors facility performance evaluation program to ensure timeliness and thoroughness and that increases are within established guidelines
  • Develops strong working relationships with Administrator or General Manager, staff and other members of facility and/or corporate management team, provides advice, best practice recommendations, guidance and coaches as needed
  • Maintains facility employee relations program in a manner that ensures employee satisfaction surveys are in compliance with company goals
  • Prepares monthly HR reports according to company policy
  • Participates in Guardian Angel and Manager-on-duty rotation (as appropriate for healthcare facilities)
  • Manages, recommends, implements and provides education on company personnel policies and procedures to ensure adherence to and employee understanding
  • Performs benefit plan administration to include enrollment, terminations, COBRA enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and retirement plan compliance/payment
  • Ensures HR department preparedness for State Survey process
  • Facilitates and/or provides training (including new hire orientation) to employees and management team;
  • Conducts employee relations counseling, employee related investigations, exit interviewing
  • Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, and EEOC complaints
  • Responsible for reporting and ensuring compliance with Workers Compensation program
  • Represents the company at any unemployment claims hearings, EEOC hearings or other related legal meetings
  • Establishes and maintains department records and reports
  • Prepares for and participates in administrative staff meetings, staffing meetings and Safety meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminar as required
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR management or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 years HR management experience required. Experience with employment law, other government and healthcare compliance regulations is preferred. Experience with payroll process strongly preferred.
  • Ability to successfully and productively work in team environment or independently and deal with multi-tasks effectively
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
  • Ability to research and analyze various different type of data information
  • Good writing skills and use of grammar
  • Proficient using Word, Excel is a must
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and to handle multiple responsibilities
