We have immediate openings for year round Outdoor Maintenance Technicians located throughout the county. The Maintenance division provides support to multiple areas within the department such as mowing, ballfield maintenance and renovation, equipment repairs, facility maintenance, emergency response, special event support and special projects. Senior Maintenance Technicians respond to routine inquires and complaints, assign staff and oversee work projects, supports the Crew Leader with administrative and personnel related duties including performance management, and also assists with record keeping. This position is responsible for training staff in department maintenance techniques, proper equipment use and care, and following all safety precautions.
Senior Maintenance Technician positions require skills used to perform general grounds maintenance tasks such as:
Mowing and trimming
Athletic field preparation for daily use, tournaments and special events
Trail and woodland maintenance
General maintenance is needed during all seasons of the year on indoor and outdoor projects. Senior Maintenance Technician positions require the skills needed to perform tasks such as:
General painting and carpentry
Inspection of buildings, facilities and grounds
Preparation and breakdown for special events
Snow removal during the winter months at various sites throughout assigned areas
Basic mechanical skills are needed to operate and perform preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, vehicles and tools as necessary to complete tasks. Successful candidates should demonstrate strong functional skills and leadership ability.
A Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
Some positions will also perform pesticide applications throughout most of the year. These positions require a minimum of 3 years’ experience applying pesticides as well as hold their own commercial pesticide applicators license for turf grass and ornamental grasses (3a & 3b). Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which will vary and include early mornings and evenings, weekend hours required as well. This position is subject to call for "Essential 24 hour operations". Moderate physical effort, including lifting is required.

4 years job related experience in grounds maintenance and/or field preparations
Valid Driver’s License required
First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 4 months required
Requires a Class A CDL. The CDL incumbent of this position must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
Licensed as a Pesticide Registered Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia
OSHA certification as a forklift operator
Membership in Virginia Recreation and Park Society
Certified as a Playground Inspector by the National Playground Safety Institute
Grounds maintenance and/or field preparations with graduation from a technical school
