CIEE Local Coordinators play an integral role in our exchange program by providing local support to our students, host families, and schools. As a Local Coordinator, you can determine your level of commitment by choosing the number of students you want to mentor and which hours/days to devote to the position. Many of our coordinators have full time jobs, are stay at home moms and dads, or are retired.
This is an independent contractor position and is well-suited for motivated individuals with an interest in cross-cultural awareness, education, and working with students. Candidates for the Local Coordinator position are creative, patient, persistent, objective, and have strong communication skills.
As a Local Coordinator, you:
CIEE offers a competitive compensation package to Local Coordinators, including a placement and supervision incentive for every student. As a Local Coordinator, you control your earning potential by choosing how many students you want to place and supervise throughout the year. Our Local Coordinators receive a placement payment of $600 once a student is placed with an approved host family and $200 per semester for each student they supervise, for a total of $1,000 per year-long placement. A typical Local Coordinator will place between 4 – 10 students per year. That means an extra $4,000 - $10,000 per year for you. Most LC’s view it as supplemental income to help them live a comfortable lifestyle and pay off bills, home projects, vacations or put towards savings.
In addition to payments for the students that you place and supervise, you can also earn your way to our CIEE annual meetings - all-inclusive trips to desirable domestic and international locations. This year, our international meeting will be held in Ecuador and our national meeting will be in San Antonio! The trips are free and allow our Local Coordinators to not only earn supplemental income but free vacations for their families.
