The Production Maintenance Technician makes minor repairs to production equipment, helps repair and maintain the facility and performs preventative maintenance of food manufacturing equipment in the facility. This is our entry level maintenance position. This position is 10% emergency repairs and 90% assigned projects. We’re looking for a strong team player who will be a good fit within our company culture: self starter that completes work as requested, is able to manage their own time well, and can keep a cool head in stressful situations.
A successful candidate for this full-time, hourly position will have a minimum of two years of similar maintenance/mechanic experience and/or two year trade school/Associate Degree in a related field; and a proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, people-focused environment.
Hours will typically be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position is full time and will be scheduled for five or more shifts per week (including Saturdays); early mornings and extended hours likely in emergencies. Must be willing to “be on call” during off time, 24/7 for cold storage and other emergencies.
Required Technical Skills
Highly organized; keeping a neat and clean set of working tools
Ability to effectively troubleshoot unfamiliar equipment via manual and common sense
Ability to source parts that may be obsolete or difficult to find
Ability and knowledge that enables you to prioritize safety in all projects
At least moderate knowledge/skills in the following:
Pneumatics & pneumatic circuits & valves
Motors, gears, conveyor belts, transmissions
Industrial control repair (replacing relays, switches, buttons, etc.)
At least basic knowledge/skills in the following:
Not required, but a plus:
Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Experience with Foodtools portioning equipment (a major plus!)
Experience with Hobart or AMF mixers, and general knowledge of industrial drive trains and transmissions
Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment, food processing systems, hvac, and material handling equipment (depositors, slicers, planetary mixers, L-bar sealers, bakery racks, etc).
Emergency production maintenance on a 24-7 on-call basis, if needed.
Design, implement, and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
Change parts; set up and adjust lines for various products.
Perform general handyman skills such as technicianal, electrical, pneumatic, hvac, construction.
Follow all GMP/food safety protocols when performing maintenance during production, and keep records of maintenance performed.
Must be able and willing to assist with facility maintenance projects.
Responsible for the proper cataloging, organization and storage of all company tools, parts inventory, and other equipment.
Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to food safety and quality by working closely with the company’s leadership team to ensure that high-quality, wholesome products are being produced.
The position requires that an employee be capable of the following:
** Coronavirus / COVID-19-specific requirements
** Job must be performed on site at our manufacturing facility.
** Pass daily coronavirus / COVID-19 screenings (OSHA compliant): temperature checks and screening questionnaire.
** Meet coronavirus / COVID-19 safety requirements, including: 1) Wear a surgical face mask correctly at all times during the shift, 2) Wash hands immediately upon entry to the facility and throughout the shift, 3) maintain a 6-foot distance from all co-workers, 4) be willing to take on-site COVID tests periodically.
Successful completion of pre-employment COVID test, drug and background screening, and work-related reference check.
Work closely with others in a team atmosphere.
Meet food-safety requirements, which includes: no jewelry (earrings or other exposed facial piercings, ear gauges, necklaces, watches, rings, etc.), false eyelashes, fingernail polish or fake nails.
Physical Requirements Include, But Are Not Limited To (all times are approximate):
Must be able to read, write, and understand instructions, warnings, labels and postings in English effectively.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, pushing and repetitive hand/wrist movement often throughout shift (8-10 hours).
Required to be exposed to physical environment most of the work day, which involves: food debris and odors, constant equipment noise, temperature extremes, wet areas/water.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs on a regular basis and up to 50lbs on an occasional basis throughout shift (8-10 hours).
Reports to Maintenance Manager. Works closely with production supervisors and leads to troubleshoot equipment.
Hours - Full time + overtime
Compensation - $20.09/hr (plus $500 sign-on bonus at 90 days, OT, Health Insurance, and PTO.)
