The Programming Specialist assists in developing, promoting, and conducting library programs for all ages at the branch; provides basic reference services and assists customers with the use of library equipment and services.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct training classes, programs and community outreach to customers of all ages
Provide reader's advisory and basic reference service
Assist customers with library computers and associated software, such as using the library catalog, searching the Internet and online databases, and operating the Microsoft Office suite of programs
Assist customers with the use of equipment such as printers, photocopiers, microfiche reader/printers, and reservation computers
Troubleshoot equipment problems
Work with the Librarians and other professional staff to maintain the materials collection
Assist with library displays and public relations as assigned
May be responsible for organizing and overseeing the work of adult library volunteers
Interpret and implement library policies and procedures for library customers
Attend professional conferences, activities, and staff meetings and actively serve on committees
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
At least one (1) year of customer service experience
At least six (6) months of programming experience

Additional Requirements:
Ability to organize work priorities
Ability to work well with the public and library staff
Possess good communications skills. (written & verbal)
Familiar with the use of modern technology such as desktops, laptops and/or tablets
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent programs and the Internet
Physical ability to perform above responsibilities

LOCATION:
Northwest Harris County, Spring TX

HOURS:
20 Hours per Week
Includes evenings and Saturdays

SALARY:
$17.00 per hour
Paid biweekly

Employment is contingent on passing a background check and drug screen.
