What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a talented, dynamic, technology-transactions attorney to be part of a fast-moving, collaborative legal team responsible for advising enterprise sales clients on large and sophisticated multinational commercial opportunities. We are looking for a stellar attorney with initiative and drive who can handle a high volume of varied and complex legal work from the RFP stage through the full-range of service agreement components (e.g., outsourcing terms, SOWs, security addenda, transition/transformation schedules). The attorney must have experience negotiating with medium-to-large size enterprises as well as general knowledge of intellectual property and privacy aspects of technology transactions, in order to provide strategic legal advice to enable revenue generation while creatively balancing commercial and compliance risks. The attorney will work closely with sales clients, finance, regulatory, solutions/engineering, and global customer service teams to synthesize complex issues and drive consensus positions across functional areas.

The attorney is expected to fulfill a variety of functions including:

Counsel enterprise sales pursuit teams concerning legal and business matters arising from customer and consultant-driven procurement opportunities.
Review, draft and negotiate numerous complex contracts simultaneously, including service agreements, non-standard nondisclosure agreements, statements of work and ancillary legal documents.
Evaluate whether Verizon’s provision of services to particular customers will necessitate compliance with certain industry-specific and/or country-specific requirements.
Ensure that all transactions are legally sound and comply with all Verizon policies and practices and all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Collaborate with colleagues in EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Latin America regions to develop and negotiate global agreements.
Support the Legal Department with ongoing and special initiatives, including knowledge management, process improvement, and training initiatives.
Maintain excellent working relationships with Sales and Finance clients, Verizon legal colleagues, other internal stakeholders, and customers, and ensure that the clients’ legal needs are fully satisfied.
What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:
JD degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.
Bar membership and needed licenses; eligibility for limited In-House Counsel Licensure if needed.
Six or more years of experience drafting and negotiating technology service agreements (i.e., law firm, government, or in-house corporate legal department).
Willingness to travel up to approximately 50% of the time.

Even better if you have:
Experience counseling clients with respect to compliance with privacy and other rules and regulations relating to the protection of confidential and personal information.
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal and external groups simultaneously to quickly achieve common goals.
Well-honed project management and organizational skills to closely manage multiple transactions and complex projects and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail.
Ability to interact effectively with personnel in various roles and levels across the organization, and enforce legal requirements.
Ability to work across multiple stakeholder teams and drive consensus positions.
Proven ability to spot problems and develop and lead implementation of creative solutions.
Capability to be a self-starter who takes initiative to develop, lead, and implement special projects.
Strong written and oral communication, business judgment, and strategic thinking skills.
The ability to productively manage work flow increases/decreases between deal cycles with project, process improvement and training activities.
Experience with network security requirements.
Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of G Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Mail, etc.), and the ability to learn and work in Verizon contracting and workflow reporting systems.
