PATIENT SERVICE SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY:

The Patient Support Supervisor will work under the direct supervision of the Patient Support Manager to oversee all areas of patient registration of the Western, Morgan and Berwyn sites. He/She will oversee the activities of Patient Registration Representatives and Medical Office Assistants to assure adequate staffing and that patients are properly registered, capturing the necessary patient demographic information, and facilitates efficient patient flow. Collaborates with managers of Clinical, Finance, and EHRS.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises Patient Registration Representatives and Medical Office Assistants at Western, Morgan, and Berwyn
  • Develops and coordinates staffing schedule to assure daily coverage of all patient registration functions; shifts staff as appropriate to cover functional areas
  • Covers PRR as needed (call-ins, vac, ect)
  • Reviews time off requests for manager’s approval
  • Reviews and approves time sheets as needed.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director Assistant
  • Collaborates and works to ensure that changes to insurances enrollments are communicated to all staff
  • Monitors patient schedules to ensure compliance with established standards
  • Monitors that new and establish policies and procedures are followed
  • Collaborates with billing department to ensure that all patient information is accurately entered and processed
  • Monitors that MPE and newborn applications are completed on a timely matter
  • Monitors patient registration functions, and performs random audits
  • Attends meetings and trainings as needed
  • Performs new hire departmental orientation and training
  • Provides remedial training to current staff
  • Coordinate cash collection with Billing staff for all sites Western, Morgan, and Berwyn
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

This position requires compliance with all of Alivio’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Joint Commission standards, all policies and procedures and Corporate Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages and supervises staff listed below, including hiring, training, evaluating and managing performance to meet departmental efficiency and performance measures in keeping with the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Personnel Policies and Procedures and prevailing employment laws as appropriate.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

OSHA Category 3 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • AAS/AA in business management or related field, degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certification or Licensure:

Experience:

  • Experience in the areas of registration, patient scheduling and insurance verification, including MPE application process
  • Experience with group practice supervision preferred.

Demonstrated Competencies:

  • Bilingual – Fluent in English/Spanish
  • Ability to interact effectively with providers, patients, colleagues’ representatives, and other center personnel.
