PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate encounters’ for all medical visits and prepare all required forms.
- Schedule patient appointments, print appointment card and referrals.
- Provide administrative duties for patient care e.g. CIR immunization records (for all children) abnormal letters, no show letters, filling out CPE forms, immunization cards, fax prescriptions to pharmacy etc..
- Provide translation during patient visits.
- Perform vitals on patients according to visit type, including but not limited to BP , HR, Temperature. (Patients with asthma history may require PEF (Patient Expiration Flow.) (Patients with COPD history Pulse Oximeter).
- Obtain patients height and weight for each visit. Children need vision and hearing screening annually
- Obtain social history (Audit C screening, Dast screening, language services, specific impairment) yearly on patient
- Obtain Annual Comprehensive Assessment (Communication needs, Behaviors affecting health, Family characteristics, Health Literacy, Depression screening)
- Obtain Tobacco Use screening annually
- Assist providers with the following procedures: EKG, labs, blood sugar reading, hemoglobin reading, pregnancy tests and urine dipsticks.
- Assist Nursing in the Assessment with vitals of those patients with no appointments according to guidelines.
- Open and close lab-Process all lab tests performed at center.
- Keep exam and lab room stocked and dispose expired supplies.
- Provide patient education including infections control instructions, use of glucometer and blood pressure machine, etc.
- Work as part of the clinical Population Health Teams to assist in patient compliance including but not limited to generation of letters, patient education, outreach to patients and work with team in monitoring QA outcomes.
- Assist with friendly hand off is provider refers patient to case manager or social work
- Review Huddle sheets at beginning of each shift with provider and document within chief complaint and patient needs.
- Additionally duties as required by the Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse and Lead Medical Assistant.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- H.S graduate or equivalent;
- Medical Assistant Certification or AA degree in Medical Assisting required;
- 1+ years of administrative experience necessary;
- Bilingual preferred;
· Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills required;
- Knowledge MS Office including Word, Excel and Access a plus;
- A high energy level, initiative and a stickler for details;
- Must have strong teamwork, organizational, analytical, and listening skills;
- Must be reliable, detail oriented, a self-starter, with excellent interpersonal skills;'
