Responsibilities Under the direction of the Administrative & Medical Directors of Operative Services, the Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of all operational and nursing functions of the SEI OR, PTU and PACU. Main responsibilities include direct supervisor for the clinical staff, clinical support staff consisting of surgical processing and ancillary support. Assists in coordinating and directing perioperative patient care and monitoring environmental safety, fiscal management, development and implementation of staffing plans, leadership staff development and performance evaluations. The Manager is responsible for establishing and managing the collaborative relationship with SEI OR surgeons. The Manager is responsible for managing the operational and capital budgets of the SEI OR.

Qualifications MSN or BSN/MS degrees required
Knowledge and skills related to perioperative nursing, including scrubbing and circulating
Ability to manage a complex organization and effectively achieve quality, safety and performance targets
Ability to engage staff and other departments in collaborative problem solving and performance improvement
Skill in communicating appropriately and professionally
Ability to work collaboratively with the management and staff and other multidisciplinary team members
Working/reference knowledge of Medical Center and Department policies and procedures and professional standards of care
Reference knowledge of Joint Commission standards and state rules and regulations
Ability to comply with and tactfully enforce adherence to policies, procedures and standards
Skill in accurately assessing and communicating patient care and operational needs
Skill in executing and coordinating additions to the Surgery Schedule
Ability to maintain professionalism and calmness during stressful and emergent situations
Skill in demonstrating sincere support for the Medical Center, Department and Operative Services' Staff
Ability to develop, implement and evaluate human resource allocation and utilization plans
Ability to clearly read, write, and speak English
Organizational skills and ability to retain information
Ability to work within the guidelines established by the organizational structure
Ability to communicate and obtain data using current information technology
Ability to respond as an administrative resource on a 24-hour basis
Ability to prioritize and follow-up on issues of concern
