The Oregon Lottery is a leader in the gaming industry and an important contributor of revenue for the state’s schools, parks, watershed restoration, veteran programs and outdoor schools. The Lottery is currently looking for a Custodian who will be responsible for ensuring that Lottery buildings are properly cleaned and maintained.

As a custodian at the Lottery, you will routinely clean and maintain Lottery buildings, perform simple repairs, and assist facilities staff with basic maintenance activities. If you find satisfaction in leaving a room cleaner than you found it, performing routine duties along a predictable schedule, and interacting with a variety of individuals, this might be the job for you.


Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of Lottery buildings in a safe and timely manner.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance of custodial equipment and Lottery buildings.
Maintain the Lottery’s cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
Assist with basic facilities functions.

The work is performed inside and outside of Lottery buildings, and at off-site locations. Working in inclement weather is required. The position requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods; work with caustic cleaning agents; work around and/or clean up excrement and blood; and work in an environment containing dust, odor, and a high level of noise; and lifting and moving heavy objects.


High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in custodial services work in a commercial environment.

Possession of valid drivers license.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions sufficient to perform the functions of the position.
Ability to safely perform moderate to heavy lifting.
Ability to perform simple repairs, unclog drains and toilets.
Ability to read labels and instructions on proper use of chemicals and cleansers.
Ability to clean around office workers and the general public.
Ability to work safely with caustic cleaning chemicals and solutions.
Ability to make proper measurements and dilutions of chemicals and cleansers.
Ability to work in an environment which contains dust and odors.
Ability to push and manipulate heavy floor equipment, such as scrubbers, buffers, waxers, shampooers, and vacuums.
Ability to sanitize and disinfect restrooms, floors, etc.
Ability to work harmoniously with other staff, clients, and the public.
Ability to work independently.
