We are seeking exceptional Special Education Teacher/Instructional Coach for our year-round operating Day School located in Bloomingdale, IL. The schedule of this position is Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.
Provide support to the Life Skills Programs including the implementation and oversight of curriculum and assessment. Responsible for all mentoring and coaching teaching and paraprofessional staff. Also responsible for state testing and building level assessments.

About Our School
With a recently opened 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art building addition in Bloomingdale, Marklund’s Day School is hiring dedicated and caring Paraprofessionals to work with students within its Life Skills/Autism and multi-needs programs. Marklund Day School is a well-known and respected nonpublic school serving students ages Pre K-22 who come to our school’s program through partnerships with various Chicago suburban school districts. Marklund Day school provides an environment conducive to learning through specialized curriculum, positive behavioral interventions, and individualized student support. Our highly sensory-driven program features physical and occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, art and music therapy, Snoezelen therapy, computer adapted technology, community programs and opportunities, recreational therapy, aquatic therapy and more.
Summary of Duties:
Mentor new staff .
Assist teachers with administering local and state assessments .
Review draft IEP’s .
Collaborate with teachers when writing IEP goals.
Assist with the oversight of the goal tracking system for student IEP goals .
Facilitate team talk meetings with teacher and therapists at all locations .
Develop a thematic curriculum scope and sequence for each grade level monthly.
Oversee the thematic planning process for all grade levels .
Provide feedback and assistance with lesson plans .
Conduct weekly classroom observations and provide feedback to staff members.
Support new students throughout the intake process which includes; tours, meeting with parents and districts, serving as the new students 1:1 paraprofessional, conducting classroom meetings and coaching through the first week.
Create new material for students entering the program- binders, goal sheets, enter goals in goal tracker, conduct reinforcement assessments, etc.
Conducted walk through’s of classrooms and give feedback on domain 2- classroom environment .
Schedule and organize professional development for staff .
Schedule outings and activities for ESY.
Collaborate with therapists to ensure the needs of the students are being met.
Work with therapy for assisted tech and communication device assistance.
Establish school wide uniform systems; morning routines, lunch, bathroom rules, etc.
Assist with filling teacher vacancies, as needed (assisting with lesson plans, writing IEP’s and paraprofessional supervision).
Must be able to drive the school bus for community trips and outings .
Accompany students on field trips (via bus or walking up to 3 miles).
Swim with students throughout the year in the therapy pool or public swimming pool. During summer months, swimming will occur weekly for life skills students.
Must become certified in Professional Crisis Management and will be required to perform physical restraint.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Education.
Must have PEL - Special Education license Pre K-21
Experience as a coach preferred
Strong background in curriculum and development preferred
