SCAD seeks a full-time theater events manager to join its dedicated staff in historic, downtown Savannah.
In the midst of the post-World War II construction boom, the Weis Theater opened its doors on Valentine’s Day, 1946, with the distinction of having one of the largest movie screens in the South. It was the first theater in the Southeast to be built with adjustable air conditioning. Boasting 1,200 seats and the ability to accommodate both motion pictures and stage productions, the theater was hailed as not only attractive but offering the best in “projection equipment and sound devices.” SCAD continued the legacy of superb, cutting-edge technology of Weis Theater under a new name, Trustees Theater, after renovating and re-opening its doors in 1998. Trustees Theater has since hosted live performances, lectures, and festivals, including the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Savannah Music Festival, and artists such as Neko Case, Arturo Sandoval, and India.Arie, among others.
As theater events manager, you will assist the executive director and staff of SCAD Theaters in all areas of project management and program development, including scheduling, management, and operation of Trustees Theater and the Arnold Hall Auditorium, among others.
