Functions as a technical specialist or supervisory role. Independently develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. May supervise engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity, or serve as a technical specialist providing knowledge and expertise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads a high performing team implementing the latest control and protective relaying design approaches on critical HV and EHV substation projects for the top domestic electric utility companies. Directs the production of engineering deliverables including relay panel arrangement drawings, single lines, three lines, AC and DC schematics, equipment wiring diagrams, relay panel wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, calculation of relay settings, and relay coordination studies. Position requires strong prior experience in preparation of those items. Leverages experience by mentoring and training lower level professionals including top graduates entering the field of substation design.
Quality / Continuous Improvement: Promotes a culture that is conducive to quality. Engineering Production: Accountable for managing engineering design for multiple substation projects, including engineering schedule and budget performance, quality of engineering solutions and deliverables, and coordination of design, procurement, and construction. Orchestrates all protection and control aspects of complex substation projects and makes project engineering execution decisions. Project Coordination: Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members. Responsible for coordinating project schedules. Client Focus: Develops strong relationships with and becomes a trusted partner with clients. Responsible for identifying key client interests and drivers on projects. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns. Works to identify future client needs and how to better position B&V to best serve those needs. Provides support to business development or pursuit activities. Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology: Serves as the senior level technical specialist in the area of substation control and protective relaying design. Seeks to be recognized as an industry expert and participate in professional societies by presenting papers, People Management: Provides direction to a group. Oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development. Common responsibilities include staffing, recruiting, budgets, tools and/or processes. Resolves resource conflicts and identifies training needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience in Control & Protection designing Substation projects and/or Physical Design of Substations and Professional Engineer License strongly preferred.

Basic knowledge of substation high voltage physical design such as substation arrangement, electrical clearances, rigid bus design, raceway, lightning protection, grounding analysis/design, and similar areas.
