Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team to review, collect, analyze and use data that reflects the performance of the organization and its services. Provides direction, support and education in performance assessment, maintenance and improvement.
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
years related experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Quality or process improvement experience (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) preferred.
No special certification, registration or license required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with the safety performance improvement of the hospital and works with the regional physician consultants on quality and safety issues.
Collects and provides statistical data for hospital related projects and provides reports to medical staff departments according to established time frames.
Collects, aggregates, displays and conducts analysis of data obtained for and during a performance improvement project.
Collects, monitors, and tracks data through the use of database/information systems such as SMS, Vizient, and/or RL solutions.
Conducts and documents medical record review as part of event reviews.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
Evaluates progress on effectiveness of performance assessment, maintenance and improvement.
Gathers and analyzes data including CRM reporting, mortality review analysis, risk analysis report, etc. Makes recommendations in collaboration with other health care professionals.
Integrates the patient care delivery system including medical, nursing and support services.
Organizes and supports the Quality Outcomes Council.
Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides reports for entity Board and Leadership meetings (more granular and shorter lag data than systemlevel data).
Provides staff support to medical staff departmental meetings as assigned.
Supports PI Manager and teams for performance improvement projects determined by MedStar system and Quality Service Line Leadership. This responsibility extends across the region. Acts as project manager for local performance improvement projects. Utilizes Performance Improvement tools for all projects and supports completion of action plans.
Works with Chairs of hospital departments to complete and run OPPE reports.
