This position is located in the Employee Claims Division of the Department of Human Resources Development, and participates in the administration of the State's self-insured workers' compensation program. The duties and responsibilities of the position includes case managing complex workers' compensation claims, investigating possible abuses of workers' compensation claims, presenting cases for workers' compensation hearings, and conducting studies and making recommendations for the development and improvement of the workers' compensation system.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Basic Education/Experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Excess work experience as described below, or any other responsible administrative, professional or analytical work experience which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree in the majors specified above, may be substituted on a year-for-year bass. The experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

Selective Certification - Workers' Compensation Claims Management Experience:
Three and one-half (3 1/2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the area of workers' compensation claims management which involved investigating and monitoring questionable claims; recommending/determining the employer's position; preparing and recommending settlement offers and negotiating settlements of clearly compensable claims within predetermined limits; developing the employer's case and representing the employer in hearings on contested cases.

Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.
