Description
The Human Resource Director is in charge of the human resources department within the hospital, overseeing the entire functioning of the department. This position reports directly to the CEO. Recruitment of employees, training, functioning and setting the salaries and benefits of employees while managing employee-employer relations are all functions of this position.
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,
administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications. Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations. Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care. Responsible for sending out and tracking probationary evaluations for new employees. esponsible for sending out and tracking yearly employee evaluations as appropriate. Responsible for completing Workers Compensation information in a timely manner as well maintaining OSHA requirements. Responsible for attending Compliance meetings, Quality meetings and Administrative meetings as required to report human resources statistics and relevant information.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
Master's degree, preferred
Required Skills
1 year experience in human resources in a hospital setting, required; 5 years, preferred
Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local registration relating to Human Resources, i.e., Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Affirmative Action, ADA, FMLA
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Ability to obtain Handle with Care certification
