Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Epidemiologist to join our team at the Navy Marine Corps Public Health Center (NMCPHC), in Portsmouth, VA and remote/hybrid.
NMCPHC is the Navy and Marine Corps center for Public Health (PH ) and serves to maximize readiness through Force Health Protection (FHP) strategies and solutions for current and potential PH threats. NMCPHC provides leadership and expertise to ensure mission readiness in support of the National Military Strategy .
NMCPHC’s core scientific and technical capabilities and product lines are to conduct Health Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Analysis; Disease and Injury Prevention; and PH Consultation and Support for the benefit of active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. This is carried out at the NMCPHC and its supported Medical/Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs), shore-based installations, and its Operational Medical Assets and field activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design studies and metrics for the evaluation of the effectiveness of clinical services, medical management activities, disease prevention programs and health promotion activities to support data‐ driven decisions.
Collaborate and facilitate between teams of professional and support personnel in conducting routine and non ‐ routine epidemiologic evaluations.
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of specialized experience in conducting scientific reviews and/or and epidemiologic investigations; performing research related to pathogens and/or related to food, cosmetics and dietary supplements; supporting the development and implementation of epidemiology studies, surveys, and investigations
Computerized database management and statistical software program skills, including SAS required
PH.D. degree may be substituted for experience on a one ‐ for ‐ one basis
Ability to coordinate and facilitate functions of cross ‐ functional teams of professional and support personnel in conducting routine and non ‐ routine epidemiologic evaluations
Master of Science degree in epidemiology or a Master's in Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology with at least 15 credit hours in basic and advanced biostatistics courses; a Master’s in Public Health degree without a concentration in epidemiology or related STEM degree with at least 30 credit hours in courses in epidemiology and biostatistics may substitute for the epidemiology degree requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience utilizing Military Medicine Data: MHS, AHLTA, M2, MDR, CarePoint
Experience in publishing and presenting findings at state and national conferences
Experience with PubMed, Medline and RefWorks
SAS Programming training
Analytical experience in TBI, PTSD, substance abuse, wounded, ill and injured population, counter narcotics, suicide prevention, emergency department utilization, chronic pain
Analytical experience in effectiveness of clinical services, medical management activities, disease prevention programs and health promotion activities to support data ‐ driven decisions
Experience in Navy Medicine
Active and current Secret clearance is strongly preferred

Must be able to remain in stationary position for up to 50% of the time
Must be able to deliver clear and effective communication both verbally and non-verbally to deliver updates; briefings; or interface with co-workers; leadership as well as customer
Must be able to work in an office environment and be able to freely move within this space to utilize office equipment as well as interface with co-workers and customer
Must be able to effectively use IT peripherals such as laptop, desktop, printer, fax machine, etc.
Must be able to deliver presentations as needed
Must be able to review; decipher and understand program manuals; IT service requests; work orders; etc.
The projected compensation range for this position is $87,600-$100,000. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
