The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting a Division Director for General Obstetrics and Gynecology, comprised of 15 physicians, 7 advanced practice providers and 3 fellows in an academic generalist fellowship program. The division is focused on providing outstanding patient care, conducting innovative research, and excelling in the education of trainees at all levels. The division offers a wide breadth of clinical and surgical care, low risk obstetrical care, the full range of outpatient gynecology including menopausal, pediatric and adolescent care, the full range of gynecologic surgery including minimally invasive, vaginal and abdominal.
Our clinical mission is to serve the people of North Carolina and we do so in a multitude of settings. We have outpatient services in Cary and Chapel Hill, NC and see patients at the NC Correctional Institute for Women in Raleigh. The Horizons perinatal substance abuse program is within the General OB-GYN Division and operates a state of the art program for women and children that provides prenatal care, intensive outpatient care, residential treatment and a 40-bed daycare. This program recently moved into a new outpatient center and is building new residential beds. The Horizons Executive Director has been NIH funded for over 20 years in studies about opioid use disorders in pregnancy.
The division is well represented in the School of Medicine with 2 faculty members holding Dean level positions and multiple service line leaders. For those interested in medical education, there is a wide bench of experience in preclinical and clinical phases of the curriculum. Our faculty play a regular and active role in resident supervision. The division operates the NICHD Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network center for UNC that includes sites at Wake Med, Duke and Prism in Greenville, SC; and a large cohort study of women with fibroids-COMPARE-UF-sponsored by AHRQ.
The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is one of the top programs in the country, with over 100 faculty in 10 different divisions and more than 50 residents and fellows. This department is known for its innovative clinical care, robust research portfolio (ranked #3 in NIH funding), and outstanding training programs, (a #3 Doximity-ranked residency program and 8 fellowships.)

Completion of a LCME accredited medical school with MD degree and a 4-year ACGME accredited OB-GYN residency.
Qualifications and Experience
Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology is required. Ideal candidates will have previous leadership experience, as a Medical Director or Division Director and will have a track record of meaningful research and/or scholarly activity. Candidates should have experience in an academic environment with a current rank of at least Associate Professor. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
