The Senior Materials Engineer is responsible for conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of Crashworthy, Ballistic Tolerant Fuel Cells (Bladders). Design material tests to develop & validate bespoke material characteristics as FEA model inputs & parameter using non-linear materials (e.g. woven cloths, elastomers, & rubber coated fabrics) analyzed in high speed events (e.g. crash impact tests). Provide technical support for testing, materials selection & development of new designs.
Education: MS in Materials Engineering or related science/engineering field
Years Experience: 3 years
Must have three (3) years experience in each of the following. Experience may be gained concurrently
Performing stress analysis w/ classic, hand calculations
Conducting finite element methods in non-linear materials such as elastomers, cloths, & coated fabrics
Developing bespoke material characteristics as FEA model inputs and parameters
Performing PATRAN/MARC (or NASTRAN SOL600) implicit nonlinear analysis
