Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing/collections specialist to join our team. The Specialist will be responsible for accurately reviewing medical dictations, demographics and other documents prior to billing the medical claims, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining patient records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes.
Duties:
- Experience in DME and workers commensation
- Review and analyze medical documentation to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10
- Prepare and submit accurate worker compensation and/or PIP paper claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, resubmitting as necessary
- Retrieving payments from insurance companies
- Maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of information
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or issues
- Stay up-to-date with changes in medical billing and collection regulations
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller/Collector or in a similar role
- Ability to work independently with little supervision, be self motivated
- Excellent communication skills-written and verbal
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10), and billing processes
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and medical records management
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and billing software
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing procedures
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with your team members, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
