1. Contracts Management; Legal Operations.
Define, launch and drive strategic and operational initiatives.
Work with the CalAmp Legal Department functional leads to identify and track departmental success metrics, provide business insights to legal team members to improve alignment with company and department business goals.
Identify, track and report on key operational and substantive KPIs/metrics for the Legal, Finance, and Sales Departments by mining CMS data that will better inform decision-making, including matter and work product analyses.
Support management of outside counsel, and support attorneys in vendor rationalization strategy for the Legal Department.
Stay current on industry best practice and leading law department processes and influence continuous improvement.
The position reports to the Contracts Manager and will work closely under her direction to ensure effective implementation and communication of the CMS, providing visibility of key milestones and progress.
Assist the Legal and Finance Departments in preparing submissions for corporate filing requirements, information requests and audits from state and federal regulators. Assist with corporate housekeeping matters and maintaining corporate records.
Perform all general legal operations administrative tasks including any ad hoc projects as required. Manage development and tracking of the Legal Team’s goals consistent with the Company’s strategy and annual operating plan; and, provide project management support.
Liaise with the Company’s IT Department on Legal Operations technologies: e.g., tools and technologies needed to support the Legal Team on a scalable basis, including vendor management (CMS, Thomson Reuters, Oracle, Westlaw, DocuSign, LeaseCalcs and others) to improve Legal Team efficiency and effectiveness; and advise Contracts Manager on developments and trends of new technologies to more effectively manage internal and external legal services.
In close coordination with FP&A support the finance function within the Legal Department, including developing and managing budgets, the creation and tracking of financial metrics, processes and tools used to plan, forecast and administer the Legal Department's budget and financial needs.
Manage accounts payable process for the department, ensuring appropriate tracking and reporting for expenses. Collaborates with the FP&A Manager for Legal on preparing and reviewing monthly spend reports and/or audits with a focus of reducing costs and increasing efficiencies. As necessary and on an ongoing basis, work with and address questions and concerns that may arise with accounting staff, auditors and outside counsel billing coordinators.
At least 4+ years of Legal Operations experience working in-house at a technology company required.
Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (pivot tables, charts, and formulas), Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
Previous experience working within CMS required.
Experience in developing standard operating processes, SOX compliance, delivering training.
Strong organizational, collaboration, verbal and written skills.
Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent commensurate work experience.
Paralegal experience a plus.
Strong project management/process improvement experience within management consulting and/or within law departments or law firms; Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
Experience interpreting complex legal, financial, and technical contract terms and condition preferred.
Diverse combination of legal, business, and technical skills that include process development, data quality assurance, contracts reconciliation, report development, and maintaining accurate data throughout the contract lifecycle.
