Summary:
Hal Jones Contractor is seeking Pile Drivers. Our Pile Driver’s work with lattice boom cranes, and either vibratory or impact hammers, to install steel H-piles, sheet piles, concrete piles, and steel pipe piles. Timber pile installation is relevant, but less frequent. Rigging and flagging for crane operations is necessary. Our pile drivers are expected to work with a variety of hand and portable power tools and will frequently cut, join, and fasten metal construction materials by either welding, or burning / bolting together. Welding experience preferred but not required. Our work is local to the Jacksonville area.
*Forklift driving experience is relevant to this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work in heavy highway/bridge environment installing and measuring pile.
· Lift, carry and hold materials, tools, and supplies.
· Ability to align and plumb pile; climb leads to secure piles.
· Ability to do routine fueling, lubrication and servicing of pile driving equipment; ability to flag basic operation of crane or pile driving in hoisting and moving.
· Understand the operations and limitations of the equipment; perform daily evaluations to ensure its safe and continual service; report any deficiencies when needed.
· Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task; properly follow all Company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience driving pile, and working outdoors is required; previous experience in working with various types of heavy equipment preferred.
· Sufficient mechanical/equipment knowledge to identify minor problems and fix them and the ability to effectively communicate with supervisor or mechanic about other equipment issues that require repair.
· Ability to understand and follow instructions; function effectively as part of a team; ability to work under pressure; communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
· Mechanical aptitude is desirable.

The employee frequently is required to stand, (for up to 8 eight hours), walk (occasionally on rough terrain/in varying weather conditions), climb, use manual dexterity to operate tools used in the course of work, hear sufficient to hear conversations in person and via telephone and radio, and vision sufficient for distance sight and to read diagrams, computer screens, manual reports, rules, regulations, laws and plans. The employee is occasionally required to reach, push, and pull with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities occurring at the site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment and the movement of mobile equipment.
