Project Director

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a creative, highly talented Project Director for immediate employment in the Philadelphia, PA office. The appropriate qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in municipal infrastructure market specializing in wastewater collection, conveyance and treatment; water distribution and treatment; storm water conveyance system; green infrastructure design and performance monitoring; combined systems planning, separation design, treatment and performance monitoring, and PM/CM. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Managing a talented team of professionals located in AECOM’s Newark, Delaware and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania offices

+ Participation in business development activities including building/strengthening relationships with clients, delivering presentations to clients, stakeholders, and professional associations

+ Play a key role in client management and client development

+ Capture manager for large proposals

+ Staff management and development including attracting, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and retaining personnel

+ Lead client negotiations and provide superior client service during delivery for ongoing projects that will lead to repeat business

+ Serve as the project director with ultimate responsibility for financial performance for all existing and new projects

+ Provide clear and focused leadership on all project functions related to project management, project controls, engineering management, and construction management to meet the Client’s and AECOM’s overall goals

+ Create a team environment that supports AECOM’s Client focus, where employees meet the expectations, requirements, and agreements of our Clients

+ Proactively resolve performance, scope, cost and schedule challenges

+ Define project staffing and resource requirements in consultation with senior staff

+ Ensure compliance with AECOM’s and the Client’s quality policies and procedures

+ Consistently deliver on each project to achieve top-tier industry benchmarks for project financial performance and all aspects of overall project delivery (quality control, risk management, profitability, invoicing, and cash collection)

+ Provide mentoring of less experienced project managers

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering

+ 10+ years’ experience in municipal infrastructure market

+ Licensed PE in at least Delaware and Pennsylvania

+ Demonstrated experience in business development

+ Demonstrated experience in managing complex infrastructure projects in excess of $1M

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Experience leading a group of >20 diverse staff with varying skill sets (i.e. planners, engineers, construction managers and scientists)

+ Experience with business and contractual agreements

+ Ability to work independently, strong interpersonal, negotiating, problem-solving, and analytical skills

+ Ability to market AECOM services directly to potential clients

+ Proficient in common desktop packages, i.e. Word, Excel, MS Project, SalesForce

+ Motivated, team player, independent, organized

+ Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

+ Advanced degree(s) in Water /Wastewater Engineering

+ Demonstrated experience in development of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), scheduling and schedule analysis, cost estimating and cost control, budget development, reporting and record/document control
