We are looking for a self-starter dental hygienist to join our team for 3 months. The perfect applicant must be an optimistic and confident individual, exceptional communicator, organized in nature, able to work in a fast paced environment and perform tasks beyond job descriptions. We will be pleased to hire a candidate that has a positive outlook on life and tendency to get along with other people. This candidate must also be a hard worker, someone that takes pride in performing above expectations and is passionate about educating patients.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIESThe Dental Hygienist is professional, organized, neat, reliable, and a team player. The dental hygienist is responsible for all processes regarding dental hygiene, including, but not limited to performing prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, administering anesthetic, educating patients, presenting treatment plans and scheduling future appointments.
Responsible for keeping a full schedule (A different pay rate will apply when cancellations occur and when working on recalls.)
Make daily phone calls for patients that are due for their continuing care.
Manage daily communication with patients via mail, email and telephone.
Greet and welcome patients and visitors to the practice.
Provide high levels of customer service and patient satisfaction.
Make follow up appointments and assist in the treatment room as needed.
File charts, scan letters and help other various office duties as needed.
Develop and present treatment plans as needed.
See that records are handled in compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Prepare treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
Prepare patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating, and draping patient.
Review health history, take blood pressure, pulse and intraoral pictures.
Perform patient screening procedures; such as dental hygiene exam, assessment of oral health conditions, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, and occlusion classification.
Maintain detail records of patient’s periodontal conditions by assessing levels of recession, mobility and charting all existing conditions for each patient.
Expose, process and interpret dental radiographs (x-rays).
Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins.
Perform periodontal scaling and root planing.
Placement of subgingival prescription drugs for prevention and treatment of periodontal disease.
Administration of local anesthesia for pain control.
Administration of nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation for anxiety and pain control.
Help dentist administer local anesthetic for patient receiving restorative treatment.
Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
Arrest dental decay by applying fluoride, sealants, and other cavity-preventing agents.
Educate patient by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and post-operative instructions.
Prepare and present treatment, explaining all procedures and their importance to the patients.
Make follow up appointments for continuing care and dental treatment.
Taking impressions of teeth for study casts.
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Be an active participant in staff meetings.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Valid Dental Hygienist license in the state for which you apply
Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene, Bachelor’s degree a plus
High levels of customer service
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic Computer knowledge
All employees within our practice are expected to be cross-trained and travel between both office locations to meet the needs of our organization.
