Superintendent, Civil & New Construction - Traveling
Reed Construction is a fifth-generation, family-owned General Contractor with over 125 years of experience in the construction industry. Reed is well-known for its unmatched level of reliability, attention to detail, and customer experience. We are looking for a dynamic Superintendent to join our Field Operations Team. This individual will travel across the Chicagoland and out-of-state to lead various project assignments in the Corporate Interiors, Healthcare, and Cannabis markets. The ideal candidate will work closely with our project management team and trade partners to ensure that work is delivered on-time, within budget, and to the highest degree of quality that Reed Construction is known for. This person will demonstrate strong leadership abilities and drive the project team to deliver an enjoyable and exceptional project experience.
Holds field team and trade partners accountable for all work performed while serving as the main point of contact in the field.
Displays a thorough understanding of project specifications, contract documents, drawings, potential code violations, and inspections.
Reviews construction documents such as schedules, drawings and submittals, and coordinates and executes various project activities while providing routine progress reports to all project stakeholders.
Campions project safety and quality control standards and ensures prominent postings of safety signage, including notices and permits.
Ensure 100% PPE compliance, reports and documents incidents, and immediately corrects unsafe actions.
Regularly conducts jobsite walkthroughs, toolbox talks and attends company safety seminars to ensure the highest safety protocols and procedures are in place.
Maintains master schedule, 3-week look-ahead, daily logs, progress photos and various project documents in Procore.
Attend all scheduled meetings with regards to L10s, project management staff, clients, architects and other partners and engages in team collaboration to address and resolve issues.
Facilitates weekly coordination, pre-installation pull-planning meetings and distributes meeting minutes accordingly.
Consistently utilizes Procore, MS Project and all other software (Microsoft Suite) to provide real-time data/reports to assist with making timely and informed decisions.
Develops and manages punchlist process to deliver timely project completion and an exceptional client experience.
Maintains and build exceptional relationships and communication with entire project team while conducting oneself in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience as lead project Superintendent in a range of project sizes and scopes
Travel Required. Must be able to travel outside of Chicagoland area and or out-of-state ranging from part-time to full-time for various project assignments
Heavy Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical experience is required
Experience with new construction buildings ranging from $5M to $50M preferred
OSHA 30 Hour and First Aid/CPR certification is a plus
Must possess a thorough understanding of construction technologies such as project management and scheduling software
Ability to effectively lead a project team and work toward multiple deadlines at once
Goal-oriented – ability to problem solve, react quickly to changing circumstances and still achieve the desired end results
Committed to producing high-quality work, striving for a “zero punch list” on every project
Organized, excellent verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience with project management software is a plus (Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, PM Web Solutions, etc.)
