Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a subsidiary of Jubilant Life Sciences is located in Salisbury, MD and is devoted to providing the highest quality generic pharmaceutical products to assist patients in managing their health.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic performs mechanical/electrical maintenance, repairs and servicing of plant equipment, building and facility. Performs all activities in compliance with company safety policies and practices and maintains neat and organized work areas at all time. Incumbent must exercise good judgment and adhere to company policies. Must be a self starter able to work individually and as part of a team.

Essential Functions

Maintains critical/non-critical equipment at a high level of reliability.
Documents daily activities as required by SOP, departmental policies and/or other work instructions.
Evaluate and repair a wide variety of machinery and equipment using acquired knowledge, skills and experience, company supplied tools, some fabrication of parts and new and/or used but serviceable repair parts.
Ability to perform repairs to parts or equipment that may require cutting, brazing, TIG/MIG or stick welding.
Knowledge of facility plumbing including domestic water system and sewer.
Carpentry skills with the ability to build walls / rooms from prints / drawings with minimal guidance. Installs repairs and finishes drywall to completion. Primes/paints new and existing walls, ceilings, doors, etc. throughout the site internal and external to the facility.
Ability to install and troubleshoot facility electrical systems.
Performs advanced troubleshooting of facility equipment and machinery if required with the guidance of the Facilities Maintenance Manager.
Identifies parts to be repaired, inventories critical spare parts, and recommends ordering of non-stock items.
Performs preventative maintenance requirements (PMRs) and unscheduled maintenance services when scheduled.
Performs high quality maintenance services completing jobs thoroughly.
Must stay current with evolving plant technology and continuous learning of procedures and equipment

Experience and Qualifications :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience and qualifications required:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Trade certification or licenses required in HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
Proficient in Tig welding.
Boiler operator license in the state of Maryland preferred.
Industry Experience Required
Four (4) years experience in manufacturing/industrial environment or site maintenance and/or repairing machinery.
Prior experience in project estimation of labor, materials and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required :

Blue print reading, basic fabrication, PLC troubleshooting, basic carpentry, and HVAC.
Must be knowledgeable of electrical theory, mathematics, motor repair, wire splicing, welding, and the repair of electrical controls and circuits.
Proven in-depth knowledge of related building codes, regulations and ordinances.
Proven ability to effectively read, interpret and work from plans, schematics and drawings.
Proficient math skills
Basic computer skills level with experience in Microsoft applications.
Proficient understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, janitorial.
Strong knowledge of boiler maintenance and operations.
Strong knowledge of plumbing, building maintenance and building inspections.
Must be proficient in understanding and applying all GMP guidelines and policies.
Communication Skills
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to obtain, clarify and give information from a range of easily understood to highly technical.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to written clearly and precisely.
Must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing the English language.
Working Environment

The working environment demands of this job are physically and environmentally center around characteristics and abilities involved in this work. The work environment considers the risks and discomforts in the physical surroundings and the nature of the work assigned to ensure that all safety regulations and techniques required to perform the job are precautions practical to eliminate all risks.

Work is indoors and outdoors requiring use of ladders or catwalks in confined spaces.
Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, working with hardware, working in a lying position, working with arms extended overhead for extended periods of time.
Works with high-voltage equipment, so must be alert and precise.
Protective clothing and equipment necessary.
Must have accurate color perception.
Ability to lift/move a minimum of 10 pounds up to an occasional 75 pounds. Experience with lifting equipment helpful.
Must wear required personal protective equipment in designated areas.
High risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stresses.
Exposure to dust, odors, moderate noise and fumes.
Must exercise extreme safety and precaution at all time in all situations. Must safely operate powered / non-powered hand tolls and machine shop equipment at all times.
