NAHB is seeking an experienced energy professional to assist in implementing the association’s energy and sustainability and green building policy at the federal, state and local levels by proactively promoting NAHB positions, providing critical analysis of law and regulation, tracking and interpreting emerging issues, and preparing comments on behalf of the association. This position also supports NAHB members, state/local home builder associations, committees and other staff by providing advocacy support, education, research and technical assistance.

Qualified candidates must have an understanding of agency programs (e.g. ENERGYSTAR for Homes, Zero Energy Ready Homes) and regulatory, legislative and codes processes. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to evaluate complex issues and communicate positions and findings concisely and effectively to a wide range of audiences. Additionally, the candidate must have excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to cultivate and maintain positive professional relationships with residential industry organizations and federal agencies.

A minimum of three years of experience related to residential design, construction and/or experience providing energy ratings for homes. Candidates that have demonstrated an applied use of ENERGY STAR for Homes program, HERS Index, National Green Building Standard and/or other national energy or green rating programs are preferred. A bachelor’s degree in Energy Policy, Sustainability, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent in education and experience, is required.
