Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
Wells Fargo Compliance is the company’s compliance second line of defense function, providing company- wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that all business groups abide by applicable laws, rules, regulations and regulatory guidance (regulatory requirements), meet compliance responsibilities, and manage compliance risks. Wells Fargo Compliance credibly challenges management decisions, business processes and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for compliance risk management activities across the enterprise.
This position will work closely with and report directly to the Deputy CCO, Head of Business-Aligned Compliance of Wells Fargo, serving as a key strategic and tactical partner to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer in driving consistent and effective execution of the Compliance Program across the business groups and enterprise functions. This leader is accountable for managing, overseeing and executing various activities within the Deputy Chief Compliance function including: strategic business management and planning, implementing appropriate governance and management routines, establishing processes and controls to achieve consistency in the execution of key activities across the business-aligned compliance teams, creating actionable management reporting and driving operational excellence across the function.
A successful candidate will have some background in Compliance (or Risk, Legal or Audit), and will work closely with senior leaders across Compliance, Corporate Risk, the Business Groups and Enterprise Functions in the management and execution of the Compliance program. Accordingly, critical success factors will include the ability to develop partnerships with all business group and functional areas and provide operational and execution excellence for Compliance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive planning and implementation of strategy across the business-aligned compliance teams to ensure operational excellence, consistency and process efficiency
Manage core functions that support the consistent and effective execution of various Compliance Program elements by the business-aligned compliance teams, adopting best-in-class processes and accelerating execution maturity
Plan and facilitate management routines including staff meetings, offsite meetings and events
Support effective engagement models with other teams in Compliance, Corporate Risk and control executive teams
Support consistent, effective reporting to management, business partners, and other compliance functions
Support ability to communicate as a team with one voice, integrating messaging and priorities
Manage business processes, including staffing, budgets,
Act as trusted advisor and is a core member of the management team. Specifically, this role will require a hands-on, action-oriented professional with a focus on delivering on what is needed with appropriate urgency
Partner with various business units and support partners such as HR, Corporate Properties, Finance, Operations and Technology, Compliance, Operations, Legal

10+ years of management experience
15+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, business process management) or 15+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 10+ years must include direct experience in risk management
