Chemist and Technical Service Representative
Responsible to perform laboratory tests to validate stability of Company products in commercial settings.
Works integrally with sales team to provide technical service to client base to support new commercialization or to provide effective solutions using in-house knowledge with problem solving skills.
Responsible for developing and penetrating the markets that utilize Company products. Promotes products through end user discussions and meetings using technical expertise and customer knowledge.
Keep and develop business relationships with assigned accounts. Gain, share and employ market information with customers for global team coordination. Apply technical knowledge to communicate issues clearly and effectively both externally and internally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Perform laboratory tests using standard laboratory equipment.
Determine suitable test protocols for stability testing. Design and execute experiments. Provide analysis, recommendations and reports to accurately explain and interpret the resultant test data.
Coordinate technical discussions and samples between Company’s technical staff and customers. Provide analysis and interpretation of results.
Support education of clients in the proper use of product. Makes use of in-house knowledge to resolve customer technical issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Assist the sales team with technical expertise and collaborate globally with cross-functional sales and R&D teams.
Utilize technical expertise and relationship building skills to establish, develop and maintain mutually successful long term partnerships with customers. Schedule appointments and visit existing customers alone or with other Company employees to review product need. Identify customer key business drivers.
Travel for prompt customer visits upon reports of technical problems that may utilize Company products as the preferred technical solution. Attend customer qualification and troubleshooting trials in order to qualify Company products or to provide effective solutions and services. Address customer problems and understand root causes to effect timely and cost effective solutions.
Develop and maintain an awareness of the customer situation, market behavior and competitive trends. Anticipate customer needs. Promptly relay customer and market information internally regarding issues that impact Company’s ability to maintain and grow its business lines.
Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of Company products. Identify opportunities and communicate to customers when Company offers a superior total value option. Research and maintain knowledge of competitor products.
Develop clear and effective written proposals/presentations for current and prospective customers and follow up with key decision makers.
Communicate regulatory aspects of Company products internally to effect an accurate response to the regulatory agency.
Attend tradeshows and industry conferences.
Support creation of technical literature.
Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors’ degree in Chemistry or a related discipline. Two years’ experience in a laboratory environment or with a suitable technical role.
Spanish language skills a plus. Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
