The candidate selected will serve as a Senior Physicist for a major Advisory and Assistant Services (A&AS) contract in the DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Support Services Division (SSD). The Senior Physicist will provide subject matter expertise (SME) for CWMD SSD efforts in support of research and development efforts required to help protect the nation against the illicit use of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) agents. Advises organizational leadership on products and processes that are technical in nature and interacts with external agencies while providing guidance to personnel performing technical tasks. The candidate must have sound research, analysis, organizational, communications, teamwork, and management skills. Individual is a recognized expert in their field of study or technology. A Senior labor category typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently. A Senior labor category may oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
Serve as a Senior physics subject matter expert (SME) for CWMD CBRN research and development efforts.
Performs complex analysis to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of project work to meet project technical requirements and laboratory data quality objectives.
Assist in the development of characterization and data analysis plans.
Perform scientific and engineering modeling of sensor systems employing new and untested technologies.
Perform technical analysis and interpretation of complex data sets generated by research and development efforts to enhance detection capabilities (e.g. networked sensors, improved algorithms).
Support efforts to develop and deploy an information architecture that can flexibly ingest CBRN sensor data and other information streams through a scalable cloud computing infrastructure and performs data analytics to characterize backgrounds, determine patterns, and provide domain awareness.
Support efforts to develop methods that identify anomalies to support targeting and interdiction, and provides appropriate user interfaces as the local, state and Federal levels
Support efforts to enhance the forensic examination of pre-detonation materials.
Perform scientific and technical evaluation of the analyzed results from research and development studies.
Generate, edit, and interpret scientific reports based upon technical results from CWMD research and development efforts.
Serve as a technical expert working with the federal staff to assist in development of forward-focused plans.
Provide technical support with expert knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle, analytical chemistry methods, and chemical engineering inherent in the nuclear forensic characterization of nuclear and radiological materials. Individuals will provide full-time SME support in the form of technical reviews, program planning and execution, statistical analyses and assessments, and technical assistance in oversight of technical nuclear forensics programs.

In order to qualify, you must have Secret Clearance.
Must have 10 years of experience with a BA/BS degree or over 8 years of experience with a MA/MS degree in research and development efforts for the Government in either DHS or DoD; experienced Team Lead desired.
Current knowledge of the concepts and principles of physics, engineering, chemistry and biology as they relate to counter-WMD sensor systems.
