General Statement of Job
Under regular supervision, is responsible for maintaining electronically controlled drawbridge over intra coastal waterway to allow safe passage of passing vessels on the waterway. Coordinates efforts with highway traffic and emergency services.
Minimum Training and Experience
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Experience:
One (1) year experience in a related field with a working knowledge of SC vehicle traffic laws
Note:

The City retains the right to determine equivalencies.

Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.
Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to perform duties involving some physical strain. Must be able to stand, stoop, and bend for long periods of time and be able to endure various extremes of weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Must be sighted. Must be physically able to climb stairs to bridge control room.
