The job of Clerical Support II/School Receptionist is done for the purpose/s of responding to inquiries from
staff, the public, parents, students, etc. to provide requested information and/or referral to other parties;
providing information to a variety of internal departments and outside agencies; and monitoring assigned
programs and processes. Use of computer software programs where required.
Answers multi line telephone system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to
inquiries and/or taking messages.
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of
their work activities.
Distributes a variety of items within the site (e.g. mail, supplies, messages, etc.) for the purpose of
disseminating materials to appropriate parties.
Greets public, parents, students, vendors, etc. for the purpose of responding to their inquiries and/or
escorting/directing them to appropriate personnel.
Maintains inventory of office supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items as needed.
Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering
information required to perform functions.
Supports assigned Administrators and departmental staff for the purpose of providing assistance with
clerical and administrative functions.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills
in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions
of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment;
and utilizing pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or
ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions;
and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the
job includes: keyboarding; professional telephone etiquette; and office methods and procedures
ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify
data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety
of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using
defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or
groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In
working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem
solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with
equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job
include: maintaining confidentiality; adapting to changing priorities; and working with frequent
