The Maryland Department of Transportation The Secretary's Office (MDOT TSO) is seeking a Project Manager in the Development Services section of MDOT TSO's Office of Real Estate and Economic Development. The Project Manager reports to the Team Leader, Development Services. The primary duties of this position include: taking a lead role in contract negotiations for, and implementation of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) projects and other real estate development projects; participating in the creation and implementation of MDOT's strategies for planning and promoting State and local TOD policies, legislation, programs, funding, and projects throughout the state; identifying available and new opportunities at all levels of government, within the private sector, and in the nonprofit/foundation sector for support for TOD. This position works collaboratively with the Team Leader, Director, Development Services team, and with other office staff as part of a collegial and supportive team that shares and discusses ideas, proposals, solutions, and direction in a joint effort to advance TOD across the state. This position also collaborates with other MDOT Transportation Business Units, local jurisdictions, and state agencies.

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Six years of experience in administrative or professional work. Two years of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures. Three years of this experience shall be in the area of real estate development in the private or public sector to include one or more of the following: project management, business negotiations, finance, legal work, land use planning, site design, development, and/or planning.

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
