The Marketing Communications Specialist II develops plans, executes and measures externally focused communications activities supporting the company’s marketing communications program and related initiatives. The Specialist collaborates with internal/external stakeholders to position and promote the company, reinforce a desired branding reputation, build and maintain key relationships, share the company story and manage the dissemination of approved information. The incumbent directly supports the company’s business objectives in alignment with department priorities, the annual Communications strategy and approved messaging.
The work this role performs encompasses (1) creation, design, layout and production of marketing materials and displays; (2) development of content and advertising for digital and print platforms; (3) development and design of graphics to support company displays at external events, conferences and tradeshows; (4) compiling information and developing marketing communications products to support the company’s Corporate Responsibility program. Role requires excellent writing, graphic design, creative inspiration and organizational skills. Proactive and close collaboration with leaders, managers and individual contributors across the company. The incumbent reports to the Senior Director of Communications.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
Develop, plan, coordinate, execute & measure marketing communications and advertising strategies/plans targeting key stakeholders. Own and execute the company’s marketing communications and advertising program. Write/edit engaging content.
Serve as in-house graphic design expert. Create, design, layout, produce, deliver and refresh the company’s marketing communications materials. Develop and produce graphic assets that support business objectives and desired outcomes. Develop, design and implement unifying visual and written identity elements, narratives and themes.
Provide Marketing Communications and design support for industry shows, conferences and events.
Compile, organize and facilitate the collection of internal information supporting the company’s Corporate Responsibility (CR) efforts. Package and summarize information for reporting to our parent company. Flag information for follow-on use in proposals, marketing material and PR/social media channels.
Own and update the company’s branding standards. Ensure marketing communications assets align with these standards, as well as the annual Communications strategy, approved company messaging/themes and business objectives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to identify requirements for marketing communications, event designs, advertising and CR materials. Effectively plan and execute assigned projects and tasks. Deliver approved material by deadline, within budget and to accepted standards.
Conduct research to ensure accuracy, credible messaging and proper depiction of company products and customers.

Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):
Bachelor degree required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable):
Knowledge and experience in marketing communications, branding and advertising. Portfolio and/or samples of previous work required.
Knowledge, skills and practical experience of the Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Portfolio and/or samples of previous work required.
Working knowledge of graphic and digital design and digital photography. Portfolio and/or samples of previous work required.
Familiarity with Corporate Responsibility programs and understanding of how to provide marketing communications support to achieve company objectives.
Excellent writing skills. Portfolio and/or samples of writing work required.
Outstanding organizational skills and ability to plan, organize, multi-task and deliver quality and accurate work on deadline.
Effective collaboration and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge and understanding of functions, processes and procedures for Communications and Marketing Communications.
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Knowledge to live and ability to role model ESA’s values.
Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, military public affairs or PR/Communications Agency is preferred.
