Full Job Description
Smith IT seeking 3 technician hourly positions for – Instructional and collaborative technology support in Van Munching Hall – College Park, Ronald Reagan Building – DC, and BioPark – Baltimore. Smith IT requires technical staff that are responsible for IT/AV support. This position is responsible for supporting IT/AV technology to faculty, staff, and students on-site as well as virtual support during COVID-19.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include any and/or all of the following:
Provide onsite and virtual technical support to the Faculty, Staff, and Students to include all IT and AV (Audio Visual) systems.
Proactively monitor technical aspects of classroom and computer lab activity, including wireless and LAN connectivity, and printing.
Provide incident management (ticket system) which includes accurate and timely processing of incidents, problems, inquiries, change, and service requests.
Provide technical support and setup of special events held at College Park and/or remote campus.
Support of faculty, staff, and students on-site and virtual as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge and experience with laptop/desktop connectivity and interfacing.
Ability to support, identify, and troubleshoot general problems with IT/AV hardware.
Knowledge of Windows/Mac OS, web browsers, productivity applications (MS Office), and Active Directory. A general understanding of networks, authentication, application packaging, and imaging.
Knowledge of web conferencing applications such as Zoom, WebEx, and Google Meets.
Must possess positive attitude, willingness to learn and pro-actively seek continuous quality improvement of services.
Ability to navigate and engage multiple stakeholders to obtain optimal customer service results.
Ability to work with deans, University and visiting faculty, students, and staff.
Excellent communication skills are necessary.
Ability to work remotely is necessary.
3 – 5 years of technical related experience are required.
Must be current University of Maryland undergraduate student
