The Production Scheduler is responsible for proactively maintaining and continuously improving the production schedule. The production schedule is the plan the plant uses to produce finished goods in an efficient manner, enabling us to service our customers, both internal and external. The Production Scheduler is responsible for complete and accurate communication to all levels of the Supply Chain Team, providing the information necessary in a clear and concise manner, enabling the group to achieve the performance level necessary to provide exemplary service.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
Calculate figures such as required amounts of labor, materials, and manufacturing costs, using production schedules, MRP/MPS system and reports, calculators, or computers.
Compile information, such as production rates and progress, materials inventories, materials used, and customer information, so that status reports can be completed.
Confer with Plant Supervisors and Operators, Procurement, Distribution and Customer Service to coordinate production and shipping activities, and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
Examine documents, materials, and products, monitoring work processes, in order to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
Maintain accurate production schedule, providing data to Procurement in order to insure that inventories of materials and supplies are available to facilitate efficiencies and to meet production demands.
Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and materials requirements, and material priorities.
Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with Management, Customer Service, and Production.
Confer with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
Distribute production schedules and work orders to departments.
Work with New Product Setup to establish Bills of Material, routings, and information on required equipment, numbers of workers needed, and cost projections.
Plan production commitments and timetables for business units, specific programs, and/or jobs, using sales forecasts.
Provide documentation and information to account for delays, difficulties, and changes to cost estimates.
Monitor production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures, using this information for Continuous Improvement activities such as maintenance of routings and BOM’s, increasing accuracy of production schedule and efficiency reporting.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.), preferably in a business, technical or behavioral science discipline or equivalent work-related experience required.
Knowledge of arithmetic, structured problem solving tools, and their applications, using these abilities to analyze and create proactive solutions to reduce or eliminate problems in production and enhancing our ability to service customers, both internal and external.
Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions, involving as many resources as necessary to bring the issue to quick and accurate resolution, involving department and plant management on an “as needed” basis.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision to complete job tasks.
Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with suppliers, customers, management, and peers.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience with using and understanding pivot tables, data reconciliation and spreadsheet usage.
