Yeshiva Bais Yehudah is very excited to begin the search for a Middle School Special Education Teacher. Private school setting, afternoon hours only. Candidates should be flexible, sensitive to school culture, and student focused * Have love of children and deep understanding of child development * Insight and ability to inspire the creative ideas of others * Desire to be part of a growing team with a strong focus on reflective practice and professional development. Two (2) years classroom teaching preferred. Masters degree in Special Education and Michigan teaching license required.

Summary:

The Special Education Teacher assumes professional responsibility for providing specialized learning experiences and supervision of students with individual learning needs in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet curriculum standards.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the area of Special Education and effective teaching methods.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to design instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels to the general education curriculum.
  • Organize available space, materials, and/or equipment to facilitate learning.
  • Promote a positive learning climate.
  • Manage and/or adjust allotted time for activities planned.
  • Facilitate evaluation of students.
  • Use progress monitoring techniques to establish and track learning goals.
  • Work with other staff, teachers, parents, and administrators to try to alleviate specific problems.

Qualifications Required:

  • M.A. in Special Education.
  • Valid Michigan teacher certificate
  • Two plus years experience as a Special Education Teacher.
