Job title: Preschool Special Education Meeting Specialist (IEP)

Work Location: Forest Hills, Queens office (NYC meetings)

Achieve Beyond provides pediatric therapy and educational services to children, students, and families throughout the United States. Our evaluations and services are provided across New York State (including the five boroughs of New York City, the Hudson Valley, and Long Island), the greater Los Angeles, California region, Florida, and the Virginia/Maryland/DC area. We specialize in conducting initial evaluations and providing ongoing services, in the predominant language of the patient, in both home and community settings.

The IEP Meeting Specialist works closely with members of the Board of Education and the CPSE Evaluations Department to ensure all IEP Meetings are scheduled within a timely manner and that an agency representative is in attendance for every scheduled IEP meeting. The IEP Meeting Specialist is responsible for the life cycle of the IEP Meeting Process internally/externally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follow Achieve Beyond’s and NYSED’s policies and procedures regarding CPSE evaluations, IEP meetings, and professional conduct
Contact with families prior to IEP meetings is required to ensure the families received the evaluation results and understand the results in order to have realistic expectations of IEP meeting outcomes
Responsible for answering questions of families and/or Service Coordinators prior to IEP meetings
Maintains proper documentation regarding pre and post IEP outcomes
Scheduling of IEP meetings with DAs at the District’s discretion
Maintains/furthers positive relationships with DAs and parents/referral sources on a continuous basis
Communicates with CPSE department staff regarding items mentioned in IEP meetings and/or with families/referral sources regarding quality of reports, summaries, and any other additional feedback provided
Follows up and obtains outstanding STAC 5s or IEP documentation from the district
If there is a low volume of meetings for a week, CPSE Evaluation Specialist may be asked to conduct educational evaluations, clinical observations or screenings or assist members of the Evaluations department
Perform special projects, as assigned
Coverage for Evaluations Manager as needed
Other duties as assigned by manager

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Education or Social Work
Must possess certification in Special Education (Ages 0-6) or LMSW licensure

Previous exposure to EI and CPSE programs/IFSP and IEP meetings a plus

Technical Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows XP, Excel, Office Suite and Outlook
Strong typing skills and familiarity with/ability to quickly learn databases

Qualifications and Other Requirements:
Bilingual Spanish preferred but not necessary
Solid interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills required – must possess the ability to interact with a broad spectrum of people
Must be willing to travel among the NYC boroughs
Must be organized, motivated, and willing to work as part of a team and independently
Responsible for having remote access to CPSE department programs at all times while in the field
Must have a valid NYS drivers license and access to a car

Salary: $50,000-$60,000/yearly based on experience
