Palliative Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona is embarking on a substantial and exciting expansion program and is looking for a board-certified/board-eligible physician interested in developing a robust and diverse academic career in palliative medicine.
Mayo Clinic in Arizona seeks a Palliative Medicine physician. The team consists of four board-certified palliative medicine physicians, three advanced practitioners, two nurses, one chaplain, two social workers, a medical secretary as well as support from the multiple disciplines who are part of our practice, including pharmacy, psychiatry, psychology, anesthesia pain, radiation oncology and neurology.
The Palliative Medicine Program has an active, interdisciplinary inpatient consultation service, a burgeoning outpatient clinic, a supportive care infusion center for outpatient acute symptom management and an intimate collaboration with Hospice of the Valley, which operates a Palliative Care Unit on the Mayo Hospital campus. Also in collaboration with Hospice of the Valley, we have an ACGME accredited fellowship in Palliative Medicine with two fellows per year. In addition, residents and fellows from Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology, Neurology, Anesthesia Pain and Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant fellows regularly rotate with the Palliative Medicine service.
The Palliative Medicine Program is a Section within the Division of the Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine. The Cancer Center is a part of the 3-Site Mayo Clinic NCI Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Program serves patients with complex, advanced illnesses including cancer, stem cell transplant, solid organ transplant including heart, lung, liver, kidney and advanced lung, liver, kidney, as well as neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, through the Enterprise Palliative Medicine Specialty Council, we closely collaborate with our palliative care colleagues at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, Florida and the Mayo Health System.
The academic practice at Mayo Clinic offers a diversity of experiences with opportunities for education, research, administration, committee membership, and clinical collaboration. This position includes an academic appointment in the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine through the American Board of Medical Specialties. Successful candidates will also have an interest in a career in academic palliative medicine.

License or certification
Candidates must be M.D. or D.O. with an Arizona license or eligibility for a Arizona license and must be board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Successful candidates will also have an interest in a career in academic palliative medicine.
