Job Description
This Packaging Development position will primarily support the Canada Zone businesses, be based in Glenview, IL and primarily work on developing the packaging VE/DTV strategy for the zone to enable growth while ensuring business continuity for Kraft Heinz Canada. The role will engage closely with cross functional team members to drive creation of pipelines and opportunities to deliver on ongoing VE targets for the zone. Additionally, the role will lead spec excellence for packaging R&D within the zone, ensuring proper processes are created and adhered to around specifications for our portfolio. The role provides opportunities to lead initiatives within the zone and further collaborate with global technical partners within NA and EU on an overall pipeline strategy.
The candidate must have strong technical skills and be able to link learnings to a diverse range of applications. Demonstrating intellectual curiosity, problem solving, leadership, and project management skills, while ensuring connectivity to ongoing/future brand strategies, will be key to the role. This position requires an individual to manage multiple assignments/ tasks concurrently with a high degree of autonomy. Responsibilities:
Manage the packaging resources and budgets for value engineering and design to value platform to drive execution, directing project team members as needed.
Possess strong technical aptitude and functional skills: experienced across multiple packaging areas with technical depth to apply on a variety of materials and businesses.
Work directly, interface, and influence cross-functional team (Marketing, Procurement, Operations, and Supply Chain) and vendors.
Develop and implement best practices around knowledge capture, transfer, and reuse within VE, DTV, and Spec Excellence for packaging.
Lead Canada Zone spec excellence tracking and processes for packaging team.
Manage VE/DTV Pipeline development for Canada packaging.
Own and deliver on multiple initiatives with complex scope concurrently.
Interface and collaborate with technical experts in US/EU zones to share and leverage technology and process development.
Execute project plans, including prototyping, lab tests, consumer tests, qualification on pilot and production scale equipment.
Build and coordinate relationships with suppliers and technology partners to drive synergies and pipeline opportunities.
Maintain clear and thorough technical documentation.
Manage junior developers and contractors on the CoE team and flex onto projects requiring problem solving.
Drive functional training and process improvements for the packaging team.

Qualifications:
BS/MS - Packaging, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related fields
5+ years of experience in packaging development for consumer product industry
Desire for experience in the food industry
Ability to work effectively autonomously, and in a team environment
Extensive understanding of packaging material interactions, functionality, qualification and commercialization of multiple packaging formats, design of experiments and ability to coach others in these areas
Executional excellence and personal leadership.
Highly motivated problem solver and the drive to deliver objectives in a complex environment.
Ability to plan, put together well thought out design of experiments, anticipate next steps and incorporate course corrections when hurdles appear.
