Overview: Major, Lindsey & Africa's Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Information Protection and Privacy Attorney for a consulting position.

Company: Large professional services firm is searching for an interim attorney to work with the Office of General Counsel in midtown NYC.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.

Experience: At least eight years of experience, preferably in a corporate or professional services firm's legal department, with substantial focus on compliance with professional standards governing confidentiality of client information, information protection, information security, and privacy.

Location: Mid-town NYC

Responsibilities Include:
This position will support the firm's evolving confidentiality, information protection/security and privacy compliance program, in particular, incident response:

Provide advice regarding the firm's legal and regulatory obligations with respect to data incident response and breach notification;

Assist a cross-functional team that responds to data incidents;

Engage and coordinate external resources, including outside counsel and consultants

Coordinate and manage internal and external communications

Assess legal and regulatory implications of the incident

Provide legal counsel in connection with the firm's compliance framework, policies and practices; advise functional and innovation teams on confidentiality, privacy and information security implications for new tools, products and features

Assist in reviewing and negotiating information protection/security provisions in client and vendor agreements, including technology license agreements

Qualifications Include:
JD or LLM from an accredited law school, and licensed to practice law in the U.S;

At least eight years of experience, preferably in a corporate or professional services firm's legal department, with substantial focus on compliance with professional standards governing confidentiality of client information, information protection, information security, and privacy;

Experienced in handling and analyzing data incidents including breach notification obligations;

Demonstrated collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization;

Significant knowledge of and experience analyzing and advising on information protection and security laws and US/global privacy laws;

CISSP or CIPP certification a plus; and

Experience in a professional services organization a plus.
