The Daniel Morgan Graduate School is an independent, non-profit graduate school in Washington, DC whose primary mission is to enhance and advance the education of the national security professional.

The primary responsibilities of the Director of IT includes providing leadership and management for the school's core academic and ERP information technology ecosystems and applications. Ensures that the organization possesses the equipment assets and platforms conducive with the operation of a state of the art, 21st century technology environment. Oversees outsourced contracts with various service providers and helpdesk maintenance staff to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner. Monitors inventory and plans for expansion and replacement over equipment lifecycles. Create and manage the Information Technology budget. Identify areas of need and recommend products and services to fill those needs. Continuously assesses technology capabilities for quality improvement.


  • Responsible for the strategic direction of the School’s technology
  • Oversee and manage various contracts and service agreements with third party vendors
  • Supervise helpdesk staff and SIS Administrator
  • Manage the website and update content as requested
  • Oversee hardware and software procurement – from RFP to implementation
  • Ensure response to technological failures and facilitate quick resolution
  • Manage archive server and monitor system health
  • Interface with all departments on their technological needs
  • Manage email system, phone system, and audio visual technology
  • Ensure excellent customer service and positive resolution to all issues
  • Develop and maintain the School’s Information Technology policies
  • Contribute expertise to marketing materials and graphic design as necessary
  • Ensure School events are successfully live streamed and recorded
  • Complete other tasks as assigned

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm


Occasional travel for participation in industry conferences and professional development.


  • Bachelor’s degree – preferably in a related field of study.
  • Seven years’ experience in IT technical support required.
  • Three years supervisory or project management experience required.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with various customers and departments – leading to positive outcomes and improvements.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT best practices – experience in an educational institution is preferred.
  • Solid and confident decision-making skills and excellent judgment.
  • Familiarity with WordPress CMS.
  • Experience with SONISWeb SIS preferred.


  • Relevant IT or project management certifications
