Staff Engineer – Automation Architect for Storage I/O Performance Engineering

VMware is looking for an Automation Architect to join the Storage I/O Performance Engineering team to work on performance test & infrastructure automation. The team is primarily focused on the I/O performance of Virtual SAN (vSAN), vSphere core storage stack and storage availability solutions. The team is also engaged in building performance analytics solutions for VMware products. The candidate for this position is an avid automation engineer with strong hands-on automation/development skills who can build end-to-end performance test frameworks and solutions to run performance experiments. The position involves working with other performance engineers as well as developers to improve the end-to-end testing infrastructure and framework for VMware storage products. You’ll be part of a bright engineering team that has an open communication, empowerment, innovation, teamwork and customer success culture.

Responsibilities:
Writing test automation for back end infrastructure
Writing full end-to-end test suites and workloads
Supporting performance analysts and regression engineers with their test automation needs
Define testing infrastructure and architect solutions as needed to various business and technical challenges

Requirements:
A Masters in Computer Science or related field
7+ Years of industry experience
Excellent programming skills with Python
Performance test automation experience
Capable of architecting complex software solutions
Significant experience working on large distributed systems
Very good understanding and aptitude for performance engineering R&D
Solid understanding of CPU, memory, network, and storage hardware and software subsystems as they relate to performance
Excellent analytical and debugging skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
Experience with ESXi and Linux performance tools
Experience with performance benchmarks and performance testing methodology
Strong background in networking or storage domain
Experience in full stack software development
